What this is
I’m investing what can be how to look at the world focused on what we are measuring and how we can understand and tell better stories from that data. I’m starting with questions about the NBA that deserve deep dives, and to see what can be understood with some statistical analysis.
Every claim these articles rest on is checked against its own number automatically, and each of those checks has been made to fail on a deliberately wrong one. The numbers are Python on public NBA data anyone can re-pull. The prose is drafted with AI under my direction and verified against the analysis before it ships.
I’ve done everything I can think of to force it to be correct.
What’s here
The Disappearing Home-Court Advantage is the first investigation: why home teams don’t win the way they used to, and where the edge actually went. More arrive as they’re finished; the front page is the index.
The data
Every finding rests on public data, pulled with the open-source nba_api tool where a question needs play-by-play, officiating, or player-tracking detail, plus Basketball-Reference for attendance and box scores. Nothing here is proprietary, and nothing is behind a paywall you can’t also reach yourself.
